Old Parsonage

Places we have visited during 2018

It’s been a while

Hello there, it’s been a while since I have been here, so apologies for that, no excuse other than Jon & I have been a tad busy making sure The Old Parsonage is looking spic and span for 2019. We had a couple of expeditions during 2018 and I have shown the highlights of these below.

Of course, it goes without saying Boscastle itself is a rather lovely place to visit and there are plenty of walks in and around the village. The weather was kind to us last season & we had some lovely sunsets up on The Stitches, which are just a few minutes walk from our driveway.  Here are a few pictures we took during the summer of 2018.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

We had a lovely time here back in March. The day was very pleasant and there was plenty to see and lots of lovely walks too. You can meander at your leisure and it has to be said the Heligan kitchen & bakery is well worth a visit too. You can find out about the  history and how the Lost Garden’s came into being by visiting their website:- www.heligan.com

Cotehele (National Trust)

Cotehele is a beautiful Tudor house with garden, quay, mill and an estate so you’ll need to wear your walking boots! There are many areas to take a leisurely walk around. There are plenty of helpful and friendly staff on hand to help with directions and they are also very happy to share in their wealth of knowledge about Cotehele.

The house was built in medieval times and has plenty for you to see and explore, look out for the unusual clock in the chapel. The garden and grounds are well looked after and easy to walk around.

You can walk from the house down to the Cotehele Quay and take in the stunning beauty of the river and woodland. There is a cafe serving lovely refreshments, so you can sit and ponder your next stroll on towards Cotehele Mill.

The working Mill at Cotehele sells its own flour & I purchased a bag, so watch out for a recipe or two soon. When we visited, there were lovely samples of goodies for sale in the mill’s bakery.
